I. Constitution,
Domicile and Duration
Article 1.- The Association is
named “Association of Supervisors of Banks of the Americas”,
(hereinafter “ASBA” or "the Association"),
and said name will always be followed by the words CIVIL ASSOCIATION
or “A.C.”. The Association will be governed by these
by-laws and other applicable rules duly approved by its corporate
bodies, and, for unforeseen cases, by the applicable legislation
of Mexico.
Article 2.- The Association has
its legal domicile in Mexico City, Federal District, Mexico,
and may establish branches or representative offices anywhere
in the Americas.
Article 3.- The life span of the
Association is unlimited. However, it may be dissolved at any
time, in accordance with the procedure set forth in article
22 of these by-laws.
II. Corporate
Purposes
Article 4.- The Association has
the following purposes:
a) Promote and maintain close communication
among the Association’s Members, in order to facilitate
co-operation among them, and to promote the improvement of their
respective capabilities;
b) Provide its members with a high-level
discussion forum for the exchange of information, ideas, techniques,
experiences and knowledge over their scope of competence.
c) Promote research as well as
systematic and permanent training programs, with the purpose
of establishing training standards in the region and providing
technical co-operation services among its Members;
d) Promote co-operation and exchange
relationships with non-member bank supervisors, with similar
associations as well as with international and multilateral
institutions, engaged in activities similar to those of the
Association;
e) Perform any general activity
related to its purposes.
