ASBA members are those institutions that are in charge of the banking regulatory function that adhere themselves formally to the Association with the Assembly's approval. The representative of an Associate Member is the highest-ranking authority, responsible for the banking regulatory function in its country.

Associate Members have the following rights and duties

a) To be represented in the Assembly;
b) To participate in the election of the Board of Directors, as well as to form part of it;
c) To have access to all services and activities organized by the Association;
d) To provide ASBA with permanent, timely and efficient help so as to support its activities.
